I'm having an affair....

with my UPS man!! :)

Nothing quite excites me more (well almost nothing) than to hear the light 3 taps he knocks on my door when he is bringing me goodies! Today he brought me this....

Now, for those of you that don't know, I am addicted...to QVC. I LOVE IT! It started off as a simple show to watch to "wind down" after a long day which actually does the trick. You don't have to think about anything, its just monotone noise in the background. Well, my problem began when I picked up the phone for the first time and ordered something. Ever since then...you guessed it, me and the UPS man have started a relationship! I see him more than my husband...HA HA!! Actually, I have done quite well the past several months and haven't really ordered anything, mainly because I have been at school too much and my favorite show "In The Kitchen With Bob" doesn't come on Sunday afternoons because Bob left. Okay, I know that was way too much information for those of you that don't watch QVC. Anyways, I am super pumped about my Wolfgang Puck Food Processor and can't wait to try it out. Maybe it will help me with my Millionaire Shortbread that I talked about in a previous post. Who knows what the UPS man will bring me next!!!

What's on your cell phone....

So this is a continuation of my previous post about what we were doing in my microbiology lab. We had to find gross stuff to swab and grow out the different bacteria and fungi on them. We ended up having to all do just about the same things, and one of the things we did was my cell phone. (And my teeth...more to come on that later). So, we looked at our dishes tonight after they had been growing over the weekend and I almost puked! The dish with my cell phone stuff in it was disgusting!!! There were these 2 HUGE fungi and all this other bacteria all over the place. We are actually growing out some of the bacteria further to see what they are. So let this be a lesson to you...swipe the ol' phone frequently with a Clorox wipe or something...YIKES!!

My little blogging friend

IMG_6879

Normally, this is what Wilson does when I am at the computer if he is inside...he lays his gigantic head on my lap. If I forget that he is there, every once in awhile I will get a swift paw to the leg as a reminder....I digress...so I went to Point Mallard today which has become my preferred method of cardio lately. Have you ever tried to swim laps in the wave pool with the waves going....good gracious it is hard, but what a workout. Now, today I had an experience that took me back....waaayyy back. I had just finished swimming and was laying out on my float reading my Microbiology book....snooze...when this little lifeguard fella came up to me and asked me what I was reading....(He could clearly see the title, so I'm thinking...hello, it says Microbiology!) Anyways, I humored him and told him I what I was reading and he then asked me if I went to Auburn to school (I was wearing an old ratty t-shirt that had Auburn sorority rush on it, not even sure where I got it) I replied, "Nope, I graduated from Alabama, but have gone back to school." As in, get the hint, I am at least 10 years older than you. I was very nice to him because I will give props to any high schooler that approaches what they think to be a college sorority girl...but geez, I felt like a pedophile for even talking to him....I ended the conversation in the nicest way possible, but my tone definitely had the whole, "I really don't want to go to prison for this, so leave granny to her Micro book and swim along son!!"

Exciting Weekend Plans!!

Well, this is part 2 of last weekend....the Higginbotham's are staying in. It is the strangest thing to me to sit still, because we don't, but at the same time it is kind of nice. I actually won movie tickets off of WDRM this week, so I may drag the patient to the movies if he feels up to it! Oh, and since I am 12 years old, I did get a Point Mallard Pass, so I will run out there to do a little studying. Its nice getting to go out there, and I think a lot of people that live in Decatur take the park for granted. But people come from all over to spend their vacation at Point Mallard and we live here. I think its kind of neat. Plus, its a nice way for me to get some color on this opaque body right now...geez... So, if any of you will be venturing to the ol' aquatic center this weekend, maybe I will see you there!!

Ahhh...Memories!!

During David's recovery, we have had the first weekend since we have been married (almost 3 years now) that we didn't go anywhere or work. It was nice, yet weird at the same time. We typically don't sit still that long. Anyways, we had movie night 2 nights in a row, which is unheard of, and we stumbled upon our wedding video that David made to play during our ceremony that told our story. I thought this was a really cool idea and he put a lot of hard work into it. It is nice to look back at all the fun things we have done together....so watch it and let me know what you think!!

Microbiology Fun!

So, I know I have complained about my class this summer and all, but really, I do have a neat teacher. Last night we made the first part of an experiment that we are doing for the rest of the week. We get to swab an area, any area that we want, bathroom, bottom of purses, keyboards, etc. to see what is the dirtiest thing around. We are then going to let all the bacteria grow in a petri dish and see what is all around us. Kind of neat, but kind of scary too. I am trying to pick the grossest place or thing, so I need some ideas. Anybody got one??

You have the right to remain silent...

So, I started my first summer class last Wednesday after the world wind weekend we had in Atlanta. Of course, I thought that the first night of class was syllabus night, but to my surprise, my teacher lectured for an hour and 15 minutes....that is a whole other story. He is a very good teacher and I like him, but I wasn't in the mindset for lecture on the first night of class...and I had left David by himself because I thought I would only be gone like 30 minutes...I digress..

So I am in class and everyone has their textbooks out, and I have mine sitting on the desk. Mine looks similar to theirs, but not exactly the same. So, I start panicking thinking I have ordered the wrong book off the internet. SUPER I thought...this is just a stellar week for me! Anyways, my teacher comes in and asks me where I got that textbook, and I told him, I ordered it off the internet. He told me to flip the book over on the back where there is this disclaimer that says this is an international version on the text book I am suppose to have...it is not made for the United States or Canada, and if you are in possession of this book, basically, you have illegally imported it. Well that is just super...I am going to prison for textbook fraud. So, he starts laughing and telling me the FBI is looking for me and all that, and I asked him if I should send it back. He said no, it wasn't that big of a deal. I did get it really cheap, so I should have known something was up with it. I paid like $25.00 for a new textbook, where my classmates paid like $179.00 for theirs. Which brings me to my next point...why in the world does the exact same textbook cost $150.00 less to "International Students??" I mean, seriously....its the same dang book! So, I may go to the big house, but I will continue to import my illegal textbooks so I don't have to dance on a pole to pay my college bills! What a rip off!!
