Busy busy!!

Steven turned 13 on the 20th of May, and he had a little cake at Vick's house with some of the girls he plays with in our neighborhood....

Then Vick borrowed my camera to take with her to Dr. Charles Elliott's campaign fundraiser, and to another one of Steven's events....here are some shots!

The Twins Graduate!

My twin cousin's Emily and Lauren graduated from UNA a couple of weeks ago, and we had a big party to celebrate! We went to their grandparents house, Mr. and Mrs. Rowe and had quite possibly the most amazing chicken I have ever eaten in my life. Oh, and the homemade sauces....they would make your tongue slap your brain! So congrats to the twins...now you enter the world where bills are always coming, work smacks you in the face every day and you get old and grouchy... :) Did I give "entering the real world" justice? :)

Steven is 13!!!

I absolutely can't believe that my little nub is 13! It seems like only yesterday he was born, and I was learning to drive a stick shift. (That is a story for another day!) Steven wanted a paintball party again this year, and boy did we have one! We had 15 players and it was so much fun! Yet, stressful at the same time. The thing about having so many players is that you can't keep your eye on the enemy at all times....unless you had 7 eyeballs, which I don't. Its more challenging, but also loads of fun. I have never played with that many people before and it is awesome. Anywho, we got there around 2:00, which was also known as the hottest part of the day, and I was pretty sure we were standing in the portal to the sun. We got all geared up and took off for the woods course. (I was secretly hoping for the woods course for the shade!) Steven had split us up into teams and I wasn't on his side. Mistake for him! I lit him up one good time at point blank range. You see, if you ever sneak up on someone over their baracade, you are suppose to yell "Boom" or "Surrender" but not shoot them because you are like 5 feet from them. So, I snuck up on Steven, yelled the appropriate "Boom" and instead of him surrendering, he raised his gun. So naturally, being the loving aunt I am, I was forced to shoot him at point blank range. He won't be doing that again I am sure. :) After lots of presents, yummy cake and gallons of drinks we called it a day. It was an awesome party and I am glad we all got to share it together!

Oh, P.S.-everyone made fun of my gilley suit, but out of the 4 games we played, I was last man standing on my team for 2 of them....laugh if you will, but I was super stealth!

Just Call Me Martha!

A few weeks ago, I posted about my earth boxes that I bought to have my first garden. Well, so far they are working like a champ. My lettuce has done wonderfully and now I have strawberry's and tomatoes coming up. I know, I know, I can't believe it either. Obviously the boxes are idiot proof so we have gotten along well so far. Keep your fingers crossed for a bountiful harvest. :)

Mother's Day 2010

We had a great Mother's Day again this year. We started off with breakfast at Cracker Barrel and for the first time, we were meeting up with Mamoo and the Gover family there. We had it planned that we would eat with them 30 minutes before the Higginbotham side got there, so we would spend equal time with each group. However, the Gover side couldn't get to their own funeral in time, so the groups overlapped and we had to table hop. It wasn't a big deal at all, and we all had a good time. Then, after church, I cooked lunch for my mom and Mamoo, Gare, April and David. It was quite yummy if I do say so myself. David bought me a new cookbook on his recent trip to Lynchburg which was Mrs. Bobo's cookbook from her famous boarding house. A couple of the recipes came out of there and they were to die for! Happy Mother's Day (late) to all the wonderful Mom's out there. Oh, and I did get a card from Wilson with his paw print on it. :)

Fishing for new panties...

Last weekend, I headed to Buzzy's house for a little fishing time. Buzzy has the coolest place in Decatur...his house backs up to the wildlife refuge and you can see the beautiful river from his back porch. So, I hoped in the golf cart for what I thought was going to be a relaxing day. So, I get down to the river, get my two rods out, and start fishing. I like fishing with 2 rods for several reasons...but today, I was just throwing one out and letting it sit, trying to catch some catfish or something and was actively fishing with the other. So, I make a phone call, and am continuing to fish, when I feel something on my feet...I look down and see this....

In case you missed the previous sentence....that giant snake (well, not that exact one in the picture, I apologize for my lack of picture taking) was ON MY FEET!!!!!!!! I thought I was going to pass out. The rest of my memory is a tad bit foggy, but I do remember doing some sort of backwards jump/twist move, surprisingly, not getting bit and escaped to safety. After changing my panties...I realized that I had a rod still sitting on the bank right where the snake incident had occurred. I looked for that spawn of satan, but he was no where to be found, so I crept up to retrieve my rod....and this was on it...

I guess the Lord was trying to calm my nerves, so my first and only fish of the day was on that rod....So I guess the moral of the story is, watch what you are doing...all the time, and always keep an extra set of panties with you when fishing.
