I salute you....bare legged sorority girl!!

So at the last Alabama Football Game, I perhaps did something that has transitioned me from young, hip dressing sorority alumni, to old lady. I dressed for comfort and warmth, not trendiness. I know this sounds stupid, and for those of you not involved in Southern Football, there is a certain etiquette involved with what Southern Women wear to football games. I know it may not make much sense to some of you, but we typically dress up for football games, in cute sundresses and other appropriate wear. However, this past game, I broke the mold and wore fuzzy boots, a sweat shirt and a HUGE jacket....and sat wrapped up most of the time under a blanket. Now, it was absolutely freezing, but as we sat at the tailgate, I looked around at all the girls with their bare legs and mini skirts and yes....they looked super cute, but I am sure the trip to the Emergency Room for hypothermia wasn't worth the price of looking cute that day. I guess I am officially getting old....but man, I was warm and sure did enjoy the game! But I still salute you....bare legged sorority girl!!!

Lily's Baby Shower!

Our neighbors Scott and Shawna are expecting their 3rd child which will be a little girl named Lily Madisyn. We are all super excited and can't wait to meet her! A couple of weeks ago I went to a baby shower for Shawna and had a great time. Lily will have two older brothers, Logan and Landon that we refer to as our step children. Here are some pictures from the shower.

The Great Campout of 2008

So we officially have had our river place for about a year and a half, and about 2 months ago, we finally got our camper up there and set up. So, we took off recently to spend our first night in the camper. It was so much fun. A little spooky at times, when you are sitting in the middle of the woods, cooking some hotdogs, and all you can hear are things walking around you in the leaves....it is a little strange. However, I did not fear because I had Davey Crockett with me....
IMG_5793.JPG

So we started off the night with a little dinner....now I consider myself to be a decent cook, but I didn't truly realize how "gifted" I was....my lovely husband ate 4 hotdogs..... I know it was probably the manner I cooked them in that made them so good, but he ate 4 in one sitting...
IMG_5780.JPG

Also, on a side note, please notice my lovely river boots....I absolutely love them and people always comment about how "interesting" they are.

I digress....so after the great hotdog eating contest of 2008, we then decided it was time to turn in for the night. Now, I will tell you that my husband is one of great caution, which is good, because I am not. I am the kind that naps through tornadoes....he on the other hand, has known for days that a tornado was coming, has prepared a place for us to go, shelter and all, and is prepared. I would rather just sleep it out in my bed, but that is just me. So, here we are in the camper, that is fully equipped with air and heat...but the heat runs on propane, and he (and myself a little) are afraid something would go wrong and we would die of carbon monoxide poisoning and our families would find us dead out in a camper in the woods....not exactly the way I pictured myself "going out." So, we neglected to use the heater in the camper. Needless to say it was a cold evening. All in all though, it was so much fun and I can't wait to do it again!!

This is David showing his approval for the sleeping conditions in the camper....I think he was lying....looks like a night of tossing and turning based on his hair..

All in all, it was awesome and I can't wait to go again!!

Hilarious Shot

So as most of you know, David is a photographer... www.davidhphotography.com. I was looking through some old pictures and found this one and thought I would post it. Now, Wilson is probably the most photographed dog on the face of the planet, so he does pretty well when the ol' camera comes out. I guess he has realized the quicker he gets his picture made to David's standards, the quicker he can go back to doing what he wants. So, I was trying to get a picture of the two of them out at our river place and he decided that he did not want to be photographed. So he put his paws up, shielding his face. Which reminds me....we need to take our Christmas card photo for this year ASAP. Oh, and any of you wanting Christmas photos and postcards made, give us a buzz!!

University of Alabama Homecoming!!

After an eventful evening in Birmingham at Kelli's party, we got up the next morning bright and early and actually made it to the homecoming parade. I love my group of friends, but when we all get together, plans never go the way they are suppose to....so when Lauren and Kelli told me that they were going to the homecoming parade (which started at 9:00 a.m. in Tuscaloosa) I thought to myself...yeah right. They will still be asleep at 9:00. So, to my surprise, I heard them moving around at 6:30 a.m., I almost died. I was exhausted, but far be it from me to deny our trip to watch the homecoming parade. Kelli rode on the MBA float, so she actually had to get there even earlier than we did.....So here are some pictures from the day!

This is me and David sitting in front of the Phi house waiting for the parade to start...

This is actually a long story...I don't know if I have not ever noticed it before, but this year, my boots make me walk like a duck. So much so, that the heel is at an angle from me walking like a duck. It was hurting my ankle this morning on the way to the parade, so when we got to the Phi house, David borrowed Cary's hacksaw out of his truck and sawed off part of my boot to make it level again. It really helped, which made the day much more enjoyable with all the walking we had to do.

This is all the gals in next to the Quick Grille right after we ate our Big Bad Wolf Barbeque Nachos.....if you are ever in Tuscaloosa for a game, I highly recommend going to the strip to get this wonderful dish!

Halloween 2008!

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays EVER!! I absolutely love it. And I must admit, I go a little overboard, but I enjoy it. So I found the most AMAZING cupcake recipe ever and made homemade cupcakes and set up a decorating station for all the nieces and nephews to decorate their cupcakes. Granted, it had more sugar in it than a room full of southern belles, but man they were good!! Anyways...I digress, the kids had fun decorating their cupcakes and I had fun making them. I also made some other Halloween snacks that you will see below. After we got finished with the kids here, we went to Kelli's in Birmingham for an adult Halloween party....I was so tired, I ended up going to bed there while everyone else was still awake. (I am truly getting old) All in all, it was a great evening though.

The most delicous cupcakes ever!!
