Moths....Get Ready To Meet Your Maker!

Running to put up the bug zapper???


If you can't tell from the photo's above, David and I have officially turned into the rednecks of the neighborhood...all of a sudden, our back porch has been taken over by these tiny moth things...so, David decides to not just kill them, but to fry their insides out, and then have their fried skeletons hang decoratively on our back porch from a bug zapper....instead of it being like the bug zappers that we had growing up that had that insanely bright light that I am sure was radiating cancer into our bodies, this one has a dull glow. So, David was really excited to hang the thing up...I of course had reservations and figured it the loud popping would terrorize our already weird dog...but far be it from me to get in the way of a husband, chest pounding, drag the food back to the hut moment....so I stood by while he hung this hideous thing on the porch. So, he turned it on and was so excited to come in and wait to hear the sound of death outside on the porch...well, I don't know if its because the light was dim, or what exactly, but there was no sound of death...in fact, the little moths just fluttered around the light, but never went right to it. So, thank goodness we kept the box because that sucker is going back to the store. Anyone have any suggestions for moth removal that won't wake the neighbors or make us sterile?

Excellence In Leadership-Decatur Morgan County Chamber

This year, I have had the wonderful opportunity to be a part of the 2008-2009 Leadership Decatur class through the Chamber of Commerce. It has been a wonderful experience and I have gotten alot out of it. Growing up in Decatur, you feel like you know everything about our city....well after this class, you realize you have no idea. The day that we did the tour of Decatur and the history of our fine city, I was amazed. I had no idea what all has happened in years past in Decatur. So yesterday, we had our alumni luncheon at Rhodes Ferry Park and had a great time. JW's Steakhouse provided our food, Pepsi provided our drinks and Superior Bank sponsored the event. It was really nice. We got to eat with some of the people from previous leadership classes and get to know them. It was super windy yesterday, but no one was complaining...after like 10 straight days of rain, we will take the sunshine and wind for sure! I made some really great friends in this group that I probably would have never met if not through the Chamber. If you have the opportunity to participate in this group, I highly recommend it. I think you have to be nominated by your company to participate, but if you want more details, call Tiffany at the chamber. Hope everyone is having a great weekend!!!

Rain Rain, Go Away!

Oh how I long for the day when we can do this....

I was planning on putting the boat at The Brickyard in April...well considering it was like 12 degrees and raining for most of the month, I have not done that yet. These white legs need some sun BAD...I have such cute spring/summer clothes, but I can't wear them because of the lack of tan. Oh well...ya'll may just have to put on your sunglasses as I emerge with my blinding white legs if it doesn't stop raining soon! I love the summer time...boating and being at the river are my favorite things ever. This summer should be interesting though because I am taking a class that meets 3 nights a week until 9:00 at night. YUCK! It was a class I wasn't looking forward to taking anyways, so I figured I would get it done quickly. I have always felt very fortunate to live close to the water...I know most people don't like the river, or think its gross...well, you are missing out my friend! I drank more of that water growing up from spills off of ski's, tubes and knee-boarding and look how I turned out...healthy as a horse! :) Most people prefer Smith Lake, but that place terrifies me....there are some spooky things in that deep water...oh and not to mention that deep water...you go down in it, and no one will find you. They can't drag the bottom of a lake so deep there are whole cities underneath it. That is a little morbid, but at least if I go down in the river, surely they can find me....I digress...Anyone doing anything exciting this summer...or when it stops raining?

Frazzled Female....

As most of you know, I have been participating in a Bible study series called The Frazzled Female. Tonight is our last night, as we have finished the series. I think we are going to continue with another book, but we officially will finish this study tonight. If you are interested in a Bible study, or just learning about how to have a more intimate relationship with the Lord, I highly recommend this book. During the last weeks lesson, my favorite part was talking about experiencing a time when God was speaking to you about something in your life. It had you write down what that experience was and then listed the Bible verse (which has always been my favorite) "I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11

With all the uncertainty in this world, if you can remember this verse and take it to heart, even when bad things happen to you, you know that it is all part of the PLAN. That is comforting to me. So, pick up a copy of the Frazzled Female!

This Bible study has introduced me to several women that I did not know before. We all come from different backgrounds, go to different churches and have different views on religion. It has been wonderful getting to see everyones perspective and the greatest thing about the study is that whether you are Church of Christ, Baptist, Presbyterian or Lutheran, we all LOVE THE LORD and that is what matters!!

**On a side note, I did notice that there were no Bible studies called The Frazzled Male, Stressed Dude, or "Man-ic Attack..." Wonder why that is.... :)

3 States in 8 hours

This morning, I left the house at 5:00 a.m. to head to Atlanta to Market for work. I was going to pick out some gifts and things for my referral sources and physicians, and this week is Cash and Carry at Market, so it worked out perfectly. We have a GPS and I normally love it. However, lately it has been acting a little squirly. It tried to take me all the way down Highway 67 and through these 2 lane roads to get to Atlanta...no thank you. So, I went the way that I know, turned the GPS off until I had gotten well out of "U Turn distance" and made my way. However, when it was time to come home, the stupid thing did it again, so I turned it off for a little while to avoid it telling me to make a U Turn every 5 minutes...next thing I know, I am in Tennessee. Yeppers....Tennessee. Now, how I managed to get there, I have no idea....but when I turned the thing back on, it was telling me to go through Chatanooga. It was a pretty drive, but geez....I wanted to go back through Birmingham! Oh well, can't live with it, can't live without it.

Today, I also realized something else....


Women are like a heard of cattle...and please keep your cow jokes to yourself. As I went into market, there was this booth with all these women gathered at it, pushing and shoving each other and waving money in the air...so obviously it had to be something good, so I got in line. Then, like the rest of them, I pushed and shoved my way to the front, waved my money for....well, I wasn't sure what I was buying yet, because I couldn't see....but I waved it anyway...finally got to the front and saw that everyone was buying these market totes, coolers and monogram bags...now, before I ever set foot in that place, had I thought to myself, "You know, today I need to buy some market totes, coolers and monogram bags..." Absolutely not, but far be it from me to not go with the pack. What was hilarious though was the other women standing around me...one bought like $500.00 worth of the stuff and when she was signing her credit card slip she looked at me and said, "I have no idea why I just bought all of this..." Well, neither do I sister, but I hauled it back to Alabama, via Tennessee and now have shower gifts out the wazoo! So, let that be a marketing lesson to you all....create a line...even if its family and friends in front of your booth and I guarantee you will sell out of whatever you have. Those totes, all 900 of them, were gone in 12 minutes.

Relay for Life

On Friday night, David and I went to Moulton for Relay for Life. If any of you remember the weather in this area, it was like tornadoes and driving rain. They ended up moving the event inside the coliseum due to the weather. We were all packed in there like sardines, but we had a good time. I definitely think the highlight of the night was Romeo the baby pig. We were not really paying attention when we heard this awful screeching sound...like a mix between a screaming spider monkey and a sick cat. We turned to look and this man was walking in holding this baby pig that was screaming his head off. (I am not sure if that is the proper terminology for what the pig was doing, but its as close as I can get.) It had this bandanna on and was heading for the stage. We were leaving at this point, so we really didn't get to see the whole thing, but they had people kissing Romeo, I am assuming, to raise money for Relay. Otherwise, it would have just been weird, kissing a pig for no reason...I digress. So, then, we tried to pack up the car in the driving rain storm and head back to Decatur. It was a fun night...I think Decatur's Relay For Life is this coming weekend...its such a good cause, everyone should go out and support it!

2 More Test...

And I will be done for the semester (which means, I will get just a 2 week break, but I desperately need that break! I was studying some and realized that there is waaayyy too much to learn! But I will press on. This last test is covering 3 chapters...that is a lot of anatomy to learn. However, I am very thankful that my teacher is not giving us a comprehensive final...I think I would shoot myself. Anyways, wish me luck, cross your fingers and toes, and send an extra prayer up on my behalf please!!
