On Saturday, David, Wilson and myself loaded up and watch Cole play ball out at Clements. We decided that since we were so close, we would spend the night out at the river. Surprisingly, we have only spent the night out there once since we have had the place. Our schedules are just too busy, but I think this summer we are going to be making more time to go out there. It is just so peaceful. So we got out there Saturday afternoon and kind of doodled around, met a neighbor we had never met, and then started to get ready for the evening. We gathered up firewood, and I finally finished my fire pit, which I am quite proud of. So we cooked some hotdogs, sat out by the fire and listened to all the sounds and then were going to head off to bed. While we were sitting out there, we heard this noise....it almost sounded like somebody playing some kind of drums to me, but we determined that it was somebody riding a horse down the street. Kind of strange to me because there are NO street lights out at the river and it was dark, but far be it for me to judge somebodies idea of a fun Saturday night....it was a little bit freaky because with us being on the water, the sound carries so well, but you can't tell exactly where the noise is coming from. We were afraid that this horse and rider were going to sneak up on us out in the dark, but they didn't....thank goodness because David has been itching to fire our new shotgun. :) By far the best thing that happened was when I woke up at 10:30...(yes that's right, we went to sleep at like 8:00) I looked out the window and there were 3 doe's out in front of the camper eating the corn I had put out. It was really cool to see them, and man do they have a sense of hearing on them. We couldn't even shift inside the camper without their ears shooting up. Anyways, here are some shots from the night...
David and Wilson...
David getting a little help from Wilson to get the fire started..he wanted a hotdog too!!
Wilson got a little hungry and started chewing on sticks until the hotdogs were ready.
Me and Wilson
If you look closely, you will see David holding something black in his hand...that would be his STORM...can't be away from the internet too long! :)
Wilson begging for a little hotdog..
His dad giving in....
Wilson had a very hard time getting comfortable laying down for some reason...
This is what we woke up to....BEAUTIFUL!!!
